Pucker Up

Caroline is a very affectionate little girl, and her newest thing is to greet everyone and everything with a "Hi!" and a kiss.  This morning upon wakening, she said hi and kissed her stuffed animals, ball, sippy cup of milk, medicine syringe, and magnets on the fridge.  She continues this all day.  She will try to kiss anything, although I draw the line at her shoes and the garbage can.  Believe it or not, she has tried to kiss both these things.  She keeps us laughing all the time!

The Sweetest Sound

We recently discovered a wonderful DVD series called Praise baby.  They are DVDs of praise and worship music for little ones filled with wonderful background images of babies and children, animals and nature with lots of bright colors (everything little ones are attracted to).  Caroline really loves it.  Lately, she's been asking for it more than her Elmo DVDs, which for her is huge!

She is especially fond of the song "O How I Love Jesus" and recently she has started "singing" along with the music.  She usually stops whatever she is doing during this part of the video to sing along.  My heart turns into a puddle on the spot!

Bilingual?

A word recently added to Caroline's vocabulary is "no."  Most toddlers learn this word pretty quickly I think.  For Caroline it is just another way for her to firmly let us know her opinion about things.  We've been hearing this word pretty frequently I must say.

She has not quite learned how to say yes, however.  When she answers "yes" to something, she says "see!" (or "si" the Spanish word for yes).  Apparently she has learned Spanish?  Hmm... she has been switching some of her toys to the Spanish setting lately.

Snow, snow, and more snow!

Snow is not exactly rare in our area, but it's not particularly common either.  This winter it has snowed more than any other year I can remember.  The biggest snow we had measured about 7 inches in our backyard.  It doesn't sound like much, but around here that's enough to shut down the city!

All of the snow did add a word to Caroline's vocabulary that probably would not have been there otherwise.  She would look out the window and say "sow, sow!"

We tried twice to bring Caroline out in the snow to play.  She would look longingly from the window and ask to go outside, but once we got there it was a different story.  To say she wasn't impressed is an understatement.  She was not a fan!  I think the pictures tell it all:

She attempted to get down and walk
It didn't work out well
Would you please bring me back inside?!!
She much preferred to admire the snow from the window.
Oh well, maybe next year!

Christmas 2009

Caroline is really still too young to grasp what Christmas is all about, but this year she had her very own nativity scene to play with, which she loved.  We talked to her often about baby Jesus in the manger, and many times she would pick the baby up and give it a kiss.  So sweet!

We loved being with family this Christmas and were lucky enough to be able to spend the whole week just being together.

Here are some of my favorite pictures from Christmas this year:
Caroline got a really cool pink car to ride in from Nana and Papa
The box was a lot of fun to play in too!
Sugar cookies for breakfast?  Caroline's Papa will basically give her anything she wants.  She knows it too!

Caroline got a baby and a stroller from Santa
Caroline's favorite thing to do at Gigi's house is to look at the pictures she has displayed on the bookshelf of family.  She asks Gigi to show her the pictures incessantly!
A quiet moment
Happy, happy girl!

Catching Up!

So I think this is the longest I've gone without updating Caroline's blog.  Is there anyone out there still checking in on us?  If so, thank you!  Since this is supposed to be a baby book of sorts for Caroline, please bear with me while I back track a few months during the next few posts.  If you're still around and checking our blog once and a while, I'd love to know it!  Leave us a comment to let us know you were here!  Sometimes I feel like I'm just talking to a black hole out here in cyberspace! :-)  More to follow!
